The 46-52 ish feet boats I am currently considering all have these engines and I was hoping to get some pointers what to look for in terms of known issues or anything that would be worth considering. There are cummins options on some of them but my preference for now is VP due to location and access to skilled mechanics. Boat and engines are from 2003-2008 and mostly between 800-1300h.

Just looking at the service schedule for TAMD75EDC compared to the KAD series is impressive, 1000h/12 mth checkpoints must mean the engines design life is more than 10,000h.

All three of those engines have good records.

The 75’s were the final evolution of the series and are good sound engines of the old school.

The D12’s were the first of the new generation and have good records. If it has Halyard stainless injection bends have a close look for wet insulation, they have a life span of about 5 years or so.

The newest of the three engines is the D9 and is a good reliable bit of kit, the Centa couplings, a rubber coupling has a finite life. The engine has a good reputation.
