Just wanted to let folk know, if you have TAMD71B that appear to lack power or you are struggling to get up on the plane or smoke a lot on startup. Really simple remedy. I had that issue after a water ingress problem caused me to take my bypass valves apart. The seal around the flap (gate valve) had disintegrated and the valve had moved out of alignment. I managed to carry out a temporary fix sealing the valve in the non bypass mode to prove the theory. Besides the smoke on startup (the heater is, by the very nature of the valve, unable to bypass to take hot air from the heater which was also electrically isolated during the test.) full power was restored. I've since overhauled the valves with new parts, a couple of hundred quid so not cheap, but all power and smokeless (well nearly, as good as you will ever get with a 71B) and all power has been fully restored as the right temperature air is in the right place in the engine as was designed The engines are really sweet. If anyone needs more info please message me and I'll be happy to give you what I know.
