Does anyone know if the fuel shut of valve on a Tamd63p is serviceable.

The starboard engine will not stop on the key, stops instantly if you pull the lever on the back of the valve.

If you wait till it cools right down and give it a tap it will work perfectly, you can hear it clicking nicely and if you start the engine you can stop it with the key.

Once the engine block warms up you get no response at all from it, even tapping it produces nothing.

Just phoned up for a price, expecting it to be expensive so was guessing 80-£100, price is £450 plus vat Sad

For some reason the manual lists all other fuel shut offs for the 71's 73's etc as solenoids but the 63p as a shut off valve.

image.jpgYeah, it's weird. The 61a, 71 etc use a solenoid on the injector rack, but not the 63p!!

When one of my solenoids bit the dust vp wanted £400+ but I found one for £80 rebadged as a Perkins solenoid - same manufacturer part number.

Do a serious bit of googling and ebaying, you may find a non-vp equivalent (or the oe non-Volvo badged part) for a LOT less.
Good luck

Pic above is my example - saving over £300 from a dealer!

Now found a workshop manual that says it is easily serviceable, four O rings and an airline if the book is to be believed.

Fingers crossed.

There was a mod I remember carrying out on many of those where the bolts were removed and refitted with rubber washers on either side of the valve block. The bolts were refitted with thread lock and only finger tightend. This was to stop the valve block from being deformed when tightend against an uneven surface. Try slackening the securing bolts and see if it works.

That sounds feasible given that it only sticks when it is warm, maybe there is a bit of deflection.

Will give it a go at the weekend thanks.

this happened to my Volvo tamd 72 and mine woudnt stop when the key was turned back
but proved to be the relay not the stop solanoid
