Hi,

Having sold our last boat (big thanks to Ian @ Boatshed Poole), we are now searching for our next toy /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

One boat we are interested in has had a lot of work done on the mechanics, including the engines being upgraded from 41A's to 41B's. Apart from a little less smoke, what's the difference and should I be able to tell when I'm looking at them ??

Thanks

Paul

Apart from the engine numbers there are exhaust brakes to help to stop the smoke at idle ... they don’t work and are best taken off. You’ll hear a big click as the kick in if you rev the engines slightly and then bring them back down again. They are located on the exhaust elbow.

The B’s have more compression which is supposed to do away with the exhaust brakes.

They are all smoky though and don’t worry about it ... unless they smoke under load that is... good engines if they have been looked after.

Thanks for the info, Clive. The engines have been fully overhauled and I know there was some work done on the barrels/pistons which I guess was to revise the compression. Now I know the differences I can ask some more probing questions when we next look at the boat /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
