Hi

I seem to have a sticking stop solenoid on my Stbd engine, sometimes it works straight away sometimes after a minute or so and sometimes I give up and use the mechanical stop lever. Is it something that can be removed and cleaned or is it just a case of replacing it. One point I did note, my stud engine ticks over slightly higher revs than the port, not sure if this is relevant.

Hello,
Mine played up like yours last year and I replaced it (not expensive) very easy to do from memory. Plastic top breaks easy as you can see from the pic.

Cheers. Col.

I have the exact same problem with my kad32, similar engine just mines a bit smaller I think, problem is the fuel stop solinoyed is right at the bottom corner of the engine and looks a massive job to get to and swap so I have also learned to live with the mechanical stop, I have even tied a wire to the lever and made a pull knob on a pulley mounted in the bottom of a corner seat so I don't have to lift the engine hatch up when the solinoyed fails.
Mine goes through stages where it works fine for weeks then starts to not work 50% of the time for a couple of trips.
I think the solinoyed from Volvo penta was very expensive when I looked into it but I am sure there was a thread on here somewhere that gave the Bosch part number that is stamped on the the original that can be ordered through a car parts place for a fraction of the cost.
