Got a friend with a pair of TAMD 75p and having problems with the starboard engine.

It has error code 5.4 which is a problem with shift actuator.

The engine will revs when you push the lever forward or back but no drive.

Any thoughts on what to test or check?

Does it fail to go forward and astern or just forward?

Take the actuator coils off one at a time and with the engine running turn the little knob letting the pin rise. Does it go into gear? Forward? Reverse? (One at a time here is important and note if you leave it in gear with the manual pin the start interlock does not work so try this and restore to how it was found immediately)

if it goes astern swap actuator coils. Does it now go forward but not reverse (lever will work backwards but no worry)

Answers to this will narrow it down to an electrical or mechanical fault.

Have you checked the fuse that powers the actuator first off. Blade type in a rubber holder somewhere along the power supply to the actuators
