Where's going to be the best place to anchor up to watch the parade, without getting in the way? Off Southsea beach or off Ryde?

so its all aboard Dawn Chorus then!!! I wouldn't anchor best to keep on the move it will be chaotic with the Port Solent motor cruiser navy in full attendance!!!

I know Jeremy is aware of but for those who don't....

Ive just mailed the 'maritime' contact on the web site. I suspect Peter might be right, and the answer is to stay moving!

This is the answer I got from the organisers....

I would suggest anchoring off the West of the main approach channel, south
of Fort Blockhouse.

Any idea where Fort Blockhouse is?

Re: Tall Ships Parade and Wightlink

Talls Ships Parade Sunday 18th

1300 Red Arrows Fly past
1345 Parade begins
1430 - 1545 shipos past Gilkicker point
1515 Ships off Lee Point
1730 Parade disperses.

The website gives a small chart showing the course they will take.

"At 1.45pm the first tall ship will leave the quayside, leading the way down the channel for the Parade of Sail. Each of the ships will fall in to line behind until the whole fleet is on the move, forming a line of nearly 3 miles..."

What scares me is the thought of the Wightlink Car ferries plowing through that lot and the spectator fleet with their new 'belligerent navigation' tactics described by L'escargot on this board - and experienced by many of us this season. Could be nasty.
