Talk about timing

hmmm... noticed a familiar list as I walked along the towpath tthis evening (had not seen her from that angle before and it was a busy weekend...). I checked the water tank - empty. It was full last week. Rechecked the bilges and all looks dry... until I got to the heads, where there was water in the shower tray. Not used the shower since last September.

I have a few tests to run tomorrow that include full/empty tank and various combinations of pumps runni (or not)

Have you had any heating on the boat over the severe cold spell? As you had water in the tank/system I'm wondering if you might have frost damage?

Yes, I had a blower and a frost heater on. I also pumped out the holding tank and drained the fresh water tank, leaving the taps open after running them dry. But I must have missed something and I suspect it is the fresh water feed to the head. The heating was focussed on the engine and stern. I have traced all of the pipes from the water tank to the head and found everything dry (and with no evidence of being damp). I cannot access behind the head without removing several panels. I have a series of tests planned for tomorrow having filled the water tank:

- any water in berth? If no then at least the bilge pump is working still ;)
- Switch on water pump and turn on galley tap - any running water? If no = tank dry
- Switch on Shower pump - any noise? If no = leak in head as water is getting into shower drain.
- Try to flush toilet - clean or dirty water? If clean, flow is working. If dirty = problem
- Switch of bilge pump and leave for 4 hours. Any water? If no = no hull problem

Any other thoughts?
