Had the pleasure of being invited to the annual BCC BBQ held at Hurley this year.
Decent weather (well one weeny little shower) and a great location. The mooring team had to pack them in a bit

An "Elbow" fan (ask your kids) sets up for an evening of drum and bass with a bit of trance and chill to follow !

The smell of the food starts to attract assorted captains and crew.
With the Commodore in charge of the "Vino Collapso"

Including this keen boater.

Blimming good effort by all concerned especially by the bunch of Gordon Ramsays in the cooking dept and the the ladies who provided the rather spendid range of "afters" and to whoever collected all our dirty plates and vanished with them.
Nice to meet again all the usual forum suspects again and a few new Thames boaters, thanks for great evening.

Glad you enjoyed your outing Fred, didn't realise you had to be back in Kent by midnight in case you turned into something we couldn't handle!
Great photos.

Look forward to seeing you on the Royal river later in the year.

As you are now aware we are serial freeloaders and the promise of free stuff proved irresistible.
As for coming round .....suspect if we bribe Teddington lockies and travel only at night we may be able to get in and out without anybody knowing.

Glad you enjoyed yourself Fred but those moorings were positively spacious compared to the ones we squeeze everyone into at Cookham, there we really do have to "pack 'em in".

Had some extra volunteer chefs this year, so I managed to get through the cooking phase without gassing myself on the smoke those BBQs give off.

Nearly 60 people I believe and 20 odd boats, a good turnout and all seemed to enjoy themselves. Couldn't believe how many (most) of them, never knew those moorings existed, we will definitely be back at a later date.

You've got three months to con a free invite out of someone for the next one...

Darren.

PS still working my way through the leftover trifle!

Says the man who challenged my son to a Chilli Sauce Eating competition!!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thats really quite cruel - but also a little funny /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mind you, it was taken before I switched on the twinkly lights and anyone who's met me will have noticed a good head of hair which Davros seems to lack /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Oh, and I didnt do 'I did it Myyyyy Waayyy'

Suppose i can be magnanimous to congatulate you on the new job though......

A Bad back eh? I hope you got it 'whilst having fun' /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
