It's done! Launched the dinghy today

went off for a little row around. (oars and rowlocks are rubbish) and after about 20 minutes or so this was the water that had come in.

So looks good. That's a rib trailer and it works perfectly. Although it's a bit high from the water all I did was lift the tow bar up, push the boat and it slid off, no problem. (yes, I did remember to tie the painter to the trailer) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well you said it had been out of the water for a couple of years?? That dinghy is very tight! Mine only needs to be out 12 months and takes two to three days to take up, thats in the mneddy admitted, but thats fine. No problems with that!

Rig up?

I'm waiting for a westerly or southerly which is the best for a gentle introduction to new boat. Today was NW and pretty blustery. The RYA course boats on the lake were having a ball though. F4/5 today.

Tomorrow and Friday the wind is swinging to the south and F2/3 which should be ideal for trying the sails and rig out.

Get rid of that awful plastic rubbish and fit some leather. Please.
(Plastic is too slidey, and makes the diameter too big, giving the oar two reasons to jump out of the rowlocks.)

I've only just got the boat. They were with it. Mind you I've two other sets of oars and they all have plastic sleeves. It's never been a problem before, but these rowlocks jaws are too large for the sleeves. I've ordered some of the right jaw width. The other problem is the oars are for a tender I think and are too short both above and below the rowlock (higher freeboard) so the handgrips are are nearly a foot apart when rowing and the blades are too small as well so I don't get enough bite in the water. When the new rowlocks arrive I can use my longer oars with better blades.

Just looked at your first photo again (properly!) - yes they are a bit short - no wonder they're falling out of the rowlocks!
Double knees on the centre thwart - I'm told that's a sign of quality.
