Excellent vid! As a matter of interest what were they standing on, the old boilers or something?

Pretty certain they are standing on top of one of the boilers. From the overhead shot in the film there are two boilers showing clearly, and therefore close to the surface, and another towards the bottom of the frame.

I've attached an aerial photo of one RTIR when there clearly wasn't enough space for the yachts going through the gap. It shows Goose Rock, to the West of the lighthouse, and the boilers lying on the ledge. The gap's not that big!

Great video.

I was crewing aboard a fast 45 foot Beneteau in RTIR 1990 and where close to the wreck getting ready to pop the kite round the corner. The boat above us (an Admirals Cup grey two tonner) shouted for us to bear away. They were told they had no rights and to tack if they were concerned. It was busy for a few minutes whilst the kite went up/headsail down etc. On looking back the grey two tonner had its sails down. We found out later they had hit the wreck punching the keel so hard into the hull that water was coming in faster than the pumps could handle it. One crew member apparently closed the engine seacock, undid the pipe off it and placed it into the bilge whilst running the engine hard to Lymington. She was saved!

I often think a pinch point like that requires a somewhat "practical" interpretation of the RRS. As I'm sure you were, I'd be so mortified if I did that to another boat I'd feel a duty of honour to somehow restore the broken karma.
