i live near leicester and want to buy a barge because of the extra space for my crazy dogs. is there any restrictions at the locks for width, or in areas of the main canals?

thanks

Frome Leicester you're rather stuck - you can't get beyond Foxton (Market Harborough) in a southerly direction, westerly after the first two (?) locks on the Trent and Mersey.
That leaves you wth the Soar and Trent rivers and they don't connect with much else.

Apart from all tne Northern waterways.
Stainforth an Keadby
onto
Aire and Calder
Leeds & Liverpool you can guess where that ends.
Rochdale

Many canals up that way
If you stay below 57ft you should be able to do them all

To get there you've got to brave the lower tidal Trent - not for beginners.
