Anyone able to help out . Trying to find out if the barge with load bearing beams for transporting old wooden boats is still there . Sorry it's boaty and in the lounge but it doesn't fit anywhere else . A small team is building to carry out a rescue attempt on an old WWII craft and money is being donated to help , but we are trying to find out where this rescue barge is these days . Anyone Thames area got any ideas ?

cant help, but am interested, what kind of WWII craft?

(I spent a huge part of my career finding things on the seafloor)

Ah, as an over-excited Quasimodo once said..."THAT rings a bell.."

used to rescue Allied pilots down in the Channel, right? "The Sea Shall Not Have Them"??

Is it the HSL 142?

Not 142 , it's 145 , I just feel that more effort should go into trying to save the boats that saved so many , PM with link , let me know if you get it

I admit it is easily forgotten! I have looked on there a couple of times but didn't see much of interest to me so haven't bothered since, it all looked a bit like the caravan club to me /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Oooh er , maybe I should rethink /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif , nah , it's still the most appropriate area spose /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Was that from a google Tom , or are you also interested in them , I know Rania comes at the top of searches on 145 but most of the works on another site . Dom did take some good pics though

Always had an interest, rekindled recently when I was crewing on the steam tug Challenge during the D Day commemorations. Amongst the assembled escort was an HSL.

I have a gunmetal deck cleat from one at home as a doorstop

Trouble is the dd mahogany hull is a b***ard to put right and HSL145 looks like she's been exposed to freshwater for a long time

Quite a few members of this particular caravan club have also travelled quite a few thousand miles at sea, and our 1st bit of salty stuff is the Thames Estuary which is somewhat more testing than the lake outside your caravan park in Hythe!!!
(Don't do smiley faces, but if I did I would be tongue in cheek)

HSL 145 pics back in june
