I am using the entry level tacktick wind instrument. Sailing this weekend in very boisterous gusts I suspect that the instrument displays low.

Is it possible to re calibrate these instruments in service?

Yes, but you need to know what the actual wind speed is when you calibrate it, then adjust as per the manual, sample extract pasted in here: The wind speed calibration factor adds a percentage factor
which corrects the information from the wind speed sensor
and ensures the apparent wind speed is displayed correctly.
See page 31 section 4.3 for the calibration process.

Many thanks download here I come!

Mine only reads a few knots no matter what the wind speed actually is. Looks. Like it's going to cost a couple of hundred quid to fix if..
After two years on the mast, my Tacktick measured low too. After calibration, it still wasn't correct or consistent. I had the tranducer bushing changed by Raymarine. Cost me 10 £, the price of the postage, since the EU guarantee is two years.
