Hello,

I had a tacktick wind system fitted a few weeks ago and has been working well until last night. It's now reading a constant 90 degrees wrong, for example instead of 270 it reads 180 etc. I've looked at the unit on the top of the mast and it appears not to have moved and the wind vane part is moving freely and pointing correctly into the wind but the readout is wrong. Any ideas?

When you say the reading is out, is this the relative to the boat reading on the wind instrument itself, or a true wind direction reading from an instrument that is also taking a compass input?

Maybe check the wrong buttons haven't been pushed. Use the manual because it is a clumsy operation but there is a screen for aligning the wind trans and perhaps it has been set 90 deg out.

I am on my 4th Tacktick masthead unit in a little over two years! Is this a record? I have to say that the good folks at tacktick have always been very helpful, but I have to pay the boy £20 a time to get the bloody thing down and put it back up.

Mix up in the 'calibration' before installing the system?
I remember this to be quick tricky. Had to go through the whole thing a couple of times before we actually fitted the thing.

Our unit has been back to the shop twice (under warranty). Good service.
Still not preforming as you would expect from such a 'not cheap' bit of kit IMO.
If the reliability of their kit had been on a par with the TackTick customer service, there would not be a need for their customer service.

Wired replacement already bought - to be fitted when the boat comes out next winter.
