Having a bit of bother with my TackTick instruments which have been good up to now. System about 8 years old.
Can't seem to get registered on the Raymarine forum, Raymarine having bought Tacktick since I purchased my instruments.
Depth has stopped showing more than 10m when it used to show 80m plus across the channel. I have cleaned the transducer and confirmed the wiring connections and conductivity are good.
Also Speed indicated has gone 'slow' and now the trip log does not always count up the miles, Yesterday from Honfleur to Chichester it said the distance traveled was 15miles which is perhaps not the case as the chart says more like 100 miles. Interestingly the other week it was saying I was travelling at 1.6kts when on my tucked away at the far berth in the locked basin of Chichester Marina.
Finally the the displays cannot always lock onto the wind masthead transmitter, the masthead battery never seems to get over 2/3rd full. After a day in the sun from St Vaast going into Ouistreham last week it failed in a F6+ full sun so I guess perhaps the transmitting photovoltaic cells/battery are going duff, (which is a replaced masthead transducer only 5 years old).
Its not as if these instruments are cheap so if they are breaking down after less then 10 years its a little disappointing to say the least.
Anybody had similar troubles, help fault find?
