Hi!

Does anyone have or experienced using the tack tick wireless windspeed instruments? are they any good?

I ask as I've got yet another bit to add to my boat (SWMBO insists I have a windspeed indicator - honest!). Seeing as though the price of one of these works out the same as having a Nasa/Ray/Navico fitted by the £yard. I'm thinking why not!

The blurb says it's easy to fit, no wires to run and I need no batteries, sounds to good to be true IMO hence the question.

When I win the set offered in a recent PBO competition I'll test them and post a review on this forum /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I bought one last year. So far there has been no problem. It was easy to fit, seems to be very accurate. in short it does what it says on the tin.

Ive got the full kit with the Speed, Depth, Wind & NMEA Box. From what I had before "Next to bugger all" its a fabulous piece of kit.

I 'tried' to buy a two full sets from them last year. However, the guys at Tacktick were so unprofessional and rude that I decided against it. Since spent some serious wedge on Raymarine kit.

I use mine with a Spray Hood. Not right underneath it but on the vertical bulkhead in the cockpit & I experience no problems.

The ability to remove the Instrument heads for security is a major plus for me.

I found the Guys on the Holt Stand at SBS, who represent Tack Tick helpful. They put me onto Purple Marine who did me a good deal. I have since telphoned Tacktick at Emsworth & they have been very helpful.

Aparently they are all ex Raymarine bods.

The set that was offered as a prize in PBO is now for sale on ebay . I don't know how to put the link on this forum but I am sure someone will do it.

We installed the full Tacktick set today (wind, speed, log, depth, compas). Took us (2 persons) 4 hours to install the transducers (3), 5 displays (1 nav table, 4 in cockpit) and power all from the main power (all my instruments are fixed).
All working fine.
