My tacho hour meters are not working. Done the leaving them in the airing cupboard thing but still no good. Does anyone know somewhere who repairs them? I bought them second hand and they have never worked. They are the volvo digital tacho's.

hi,

Just sent off a vp vdo analogue tacho (c.1993) with hour meter cog broken for overhaul to speedy cables . com in Wales.
They were recommended by vdo / agent who cannot do any repairs as no spares. They have quoted £70 + + for overhaul / repair. Await return of unit any time now. Can only suggest as possible as unit not returned as yet - they quote 4 weeks turnaround.

Perhaps give them a call to discuss yours ??

One wasn't working on one of my AD41's, it was one of the wires coming off the alternator was a bit corroded and had snapped off at the terminal. Stuck a new terminal on, reconnected and it has been fine ever since.

I it just the LCD hour display that is not working? If it is then I have been able to repair a few of thease before. If you are a bit handy with a very small screwdriver you can remove the rubber seal around the screen then pull off the needle (remembering what position it was in before you removed it!), unscrew the two black screws on the dial and remove it Then locate where the very delicate ribon cable attaches to the end of the LCD screen. If with the unit powered up when you press with your finger on this area the display works you can stick a small piece of foam that sits slightly higher than the screen so that when the dial is refitted it presses on the connection. Reassemble and hopefully it will work.
I have attempted about ten of thease now and have about a 50% success rate.

Hope it works for you.
