Evening all

On the Fairline Targa 40 there is a backrest for the aft seat at the cockpit table which tilts forward to act as a headrest for lounging/sleeping on sunpad. This is simple and effective.

Problem is the backrest doesnt work when sat on sunpad gazing out over the stern; it just tilts forwards to headrest position (and then you spill your beer).

So... anyone done a modification on T40 or seen similar fix on other boats ? Some catch/lock that holds the 2 SS bars either side is the obvious answer but looking for neat fix that already exists.

I'm guessing the T40 guru JtB may have the answer but who knows !

Many thanks in advance.

Can we get a pic??????? Would be massively helpful, as I had the upright to falling back issue a few times in the summer!!!!!

A photo won't really help you. If you want to solve the problem, the main thing you need is a good s/s fabricator. The solution design is easy, the hard bit is finding someone good to make it.

Oh. I was thinking the locking mechanism was to fit into GRP and prevent the bar folding forwards. So u welded to the SS bar.
