Looking to move our Viking 20 to T & K next year as it suits where we live and our preferred cruising grounds. Have read some old threads and comments (all positive) but we'd like some up to date info please.

Any feedback welcomed :).

Im there Deefor: no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them. The staff are excellent and there seem to be plenty of berths at the moment.

Look for one on F where I am: close to the main building, good wifi and in the lee of the bank of trees and prevailing wind in the winter.

If you eat in the club and want fish and chips, make sure you starve yourself for at least three days before. :D
We moored there overnight on the way to Beale park rally a couple of weeks ago, very friendly.

We're coming over today, Saturday 15th, to have a nose round and a chat with Dave. Should be there around 12.30pm if anyone's on their boats.

Had a look at T & K and provisionally put our names down for a berth on H pier from April 2013 for 6-7 months. During the other 5-6 months, the boat will be on its trailer at home ;).

One thing that struck me on H & I piers was the huge amount of duck and goose poo that no one had bothered to clean off for some time. Not a good first impression and almost enough to put us off and look elsewhere.

Going to discuss costs (and the poo issue) with the marina manager, Lee Gibbons, at the PSP Soton boat show tomorrow. Will let you know how we get on.

Watson1959 - saw your Balt on F pier, looking good :).

Hi Deefor.....sorry: just back from an overnight in Manchester so didnt see your note about visiting.

There are a lot of geese/swans/ducks around the entrance of the marina and yes there can be some on the ponttons. However generally I've found that they get out reasonably regularly to jet-wash.

A mention to the management wont hurt though....especially if they think it's damaging business. I had a chat with the guy who was doing a major cleanup a couple of weeks ago: it had taken him a large part of the day to do F and by the time he had reached my boat (which is running like a dream after all that hassle I had) there had already been a couple of ducks back dumping.

Not sure what they can do as it must be like the Forth Bridge.....

T&k

We have moored there since before the rowing lake and the new marina were built. The current owners have done quite a lot to improve it over the last few years. For example a brick barbecue has just been built in the car park area for the use of berth holders.

We like Boaters bar which is very friendly and cosy and the marina staff are great, especially Ciel who got a mention in MBM a couple of months ago.

We also really like the location which is pleasant and pretty peaceful, if you ignore the railway line and the gas holders!

The goose poo can be a problem. They have hit our pontoon recently because we and our neighbours have been out and about. When both boats are there they tend to keep away.

The only real irritation for me is the lack of trolleys at busy times, but that is really because some berth holders on the more remote pontoons treat them like their personal property. They did bring in a new supply last year though and so it is a little better.

Overall we think it s the best marina on the Thames, although I am sure others will have their own views.

Based on all the good feedback, we've confirmed to Lee Gibbons at the Soton Boat Show that we'll be at T & K in the water from April next year until the end of October with three weeks in August 2013 at Brundall Bay to use their slipway. Out of season (November to March), we'll keep the boat at home on its trailer. All in all, a win win situation.

Many thanks for all the positive comments and look forward to seeing you all next year :).
