Sounds serious. What happened ?

I dont want to go into details because it will be a major insurance claim. Suffice to say another boat sailed into the side of us, significant damage. Boat will be out of action for the rest of the summer.

Nobody hurt on our boat; the other guy has carried on sailing so assume all is well.

Oh, bad news :( Glad nobody was hurt though by the sounds of it. Good luck getting her fixed.

that's really miserable news. Very sorry. Hope the claim and the fixing don't drag on and on, and that you are back on the water asap.

Slap a bit of duct tape over it & keep sailing until the end of the season :) when the claim is all agreed & the yard is ready to go?

Nick,

sorry to see that, hope it works out OK.

Searush,

I'm sure you know the Solent, normally it's nowhere near as crowded as some make out; however the RTIR is different, I've been faced with a solid line of boats flying spinnakers coming the other way right from the IOW to 'England', no choice but to drop the genoa for visibility and motor, like playing 'Space Invaders', and that was years ago, a lot more entrants now !

Do hope Moodynick gets a good outcome, I suppose the only consolation is it's been a largely awful season so far but that doesn't help having one's pride & joy injured.

I was asked if i would skipper a motorboat for a charter today for the RTIR my response to the inquiry was absolutely no f***ing chance!!!! not for any money!!!

I hope that means there was one less motorboat out there,
rather than one motorboat with a less sensible skipper.

Dodging the 'non-combatants' is often the worst bit, particularly at Cowes Week.

Never again

I did RTIR once...
It was a fantastic day, we had a local on board who commented afterwards..
...Good day, no one was killed!!!

There were too many people on the water who didn't now how to race in much too close confines..

But all in all.... I would not repeat it for the risk of a bit of steak....

Very sorry to hear of the damage,, Just glad on one was hurt
