Somebody posted last week asking about synthetic teak decking for mobos and I'd forgotten the brand we had fitted, so here's the link, sorry lost the original thread. No connection just a happy punter.

Aikona Teck Decking

We had it laid on our Broom last year by a local agent. It's power washeable unlike real teak, doesn't bleech so holds it's colour, aside from looking fab it is MAINTENANCE FREE and long wearing. It's also sandeable if you made a mark on it. Imho, far superior to real teak. It has grain and texture, and folk can't tell the difference between it and freshly laid real teak. Best few bob we spent on boat, no more white decking to keep spotless in our damp climate.

I can confirm this is good looking stuff.
Have seen a 64 foot Hanse yacht built using same stuff instead of normal real teak and frankly was not aware it was not real until told - and even then took time to study it hard before saying anything.
But was also told they'd not do it again due to high cost? So suggest check out price v real teak.

Yes the material is actually more expensive than real teak, but the labour cost is lower and a) it looks better, b) will last forever and c) is maintenance free. That's what swung it for us, worth the cost.

Thanks for that. And to everyone else for their input.
I appreciate the traditionalists view but the cockpit teak on my boat is knakered in places (original owner!!) & I treat it every few months but it still ends up looking [--word removed--], so I'd rather use a quality substitute to be honest & just wash off when necessary. It's hard enough finding the time to keep the rest of the boat together.
