My girlfriend allows me to add time to our holiday in Oz if I can find a ride for the Sydney Hobart before then. Does anybody have any tips on how to find a boat for the Sydney to Hobart yacht race?

'Fraid I don't know, but the CYCA (the race organisers in Sydney) would probably be a good place to start. As you probably know, the Sydney to Hobart is a serious rufty-tufty race and they don't take passengers along, so you'll probably need an ocean racing track record to get any serious contenders interested in taking you. There may be some boats taking paying passengers, as happens with the Fastnet?

I saw the start of the 2006 race, which was ace. Personally, I'd like to hitch a lift on this one:

Thanks. I have plenty of racing experience, also offshore. Unfortunately though I have no time anymore to practice a lot because of work. Can do any position on the boat although I am not sure if anybody would want me on the bow..
