Hello to all my online mud wrestling matelots, hope you are finding plenty to argue about during my absence. Here I am sitting in a french cafe in Benodet SW Brittany looking at a depressing 9 days of weather according to MagicSeaweed.com

The swmbo flew home from Nantes airport on Saturday (as arranged) leaving me with a solo cruise back to Portsmouth. French is expensive this year so I need to get home asap before this country bankrupts me, a local paper was bemoaning the missing English tourists and lost revenue. Marinas in SW Brittany are averaging £20 to £29 per night for a 35 footer, even a swinging buoy outside the harbour in Suzon Belle Isle was £15, ouch.

If Robin is about, first time around the bump I got through the Du4 and Raz southwards on one tide... woohoo.

Free french lesson for all: WIFI is known as WeeFee here in france and about 10 to 20% of seaside cafes now offer it free with a drink. The old cyber cafe charges by the hour seem to be a dying business concept :-)

We are still in Poole waiting to escape....:( Might get away Friday but dead halt again for a few days..:(

You are OK at least you haven't got the headwinds??

Bouys off Sauzon? Did you forget your anchor?

Edited to add there is a nice FREE anchorage outside Benodet Anse Du Trez(?) and always others in the river, not to mention out at Glenans. You just like spending wine vouchers!

(anchoring) not to mention out at Glenans.
I am still on a learning curve with anchoring hence the expense. Interesting to note that the french didn't start anchoring at Sauzon until all the buoys outside were taken.

The harbour master at Redon warned me off the Glenans as they have an outbreak of Swine Flu.

Anyhow looks like I am going to aim for the north bound change of tide 5pm Friday at the Raz and coast hop home in the lulls.
