I show this picture as an example of a warped sense of humour not at all shared by me, I believe it originated in America and I wish to point out that it is not a reflection on anyone in the British Isles and especially on the south coast left and right of Pompey.

Thank You.

From Rumpole of the Bailey, it was Rumpole's name for his wife Hilda and has become universally adopted on here.

BTW (thats short for "by the way" by the way) on US sites it seems that SWMBO is called "the admiral"

That may well be the case - but as you so politically correctly put it as "the wife",this of course could be any gender you care to make it! However being an old fashioned boy, and not in the least bit pollitically correct, I'll stick with the more interesting phrase as " 'er in doors"

This reminds me of an incident while on QHM patrol last year when a call was made on Ch 11 to QHM -

"QHM, QHM, this is the wife - over

QHM, being of fast mind, responded simply - "I hope not!"

"The Wife" in fact turned out to be a Sunseeker by that name - rather good I thought. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif But then being of unsound mind and totally lacking in any kind of SOH, I would.! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you recall I was just in front of him and it really was the funniest thing I've heard or seen in Boating, the operator needs knighting for the swiftness and tone of the reply. I nearly hit ballast bouy for laughing!!

Thanks again for all the work the volunteers are putting in at Portsmouth, doing a grand job. Any news on the dates for "applying for a flag" for big celebrations later in the year??
