Having decided on the forum last night that Petrolia is going on an epic trip to Scandinavia I thought it would be a good idea to tell her indoors. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

You may think it strange she didn't already know but you see I am currently working in Morocco and she is at home.

So last night I emailed her and this morning she had replied YES to an adventure next year /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

No hesitation ! Am I lucky to have such an amenable wife or what ?

I'm getting home from here about 24th Nov when the research & planning can commence.

The only downside I can see at the moment is that we won't be able to go on any of the MBM cruises that we enjoy so much /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
 
Good luck with your trip to baltic it looks a good summer cruising ground May to August I suppose.

We discussed Nordwest some time ago the only thing worth bearing in mind is that if you leave the boat in the blatic for the winter they all seem to keep modern / good condition boats laid up ashore and indoors during the winter, I dont know how difficult it is to find a space ?

I think I would not leave my boat in a harbour that froze or outside without serious preparation? Indoors in a heated shed seems like a good idea if its way below zero.

Coming from the semitropical Channel Islands it generally is not a problem here.
 
Maybe she hasn't yet told you yet that she's flying to Stockholm and will wait for you in a 5 star hotel whilst you get the boat there on your own? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
Fantastic - we had played with the idea of doing the same trip next year but work keeps getting in the way so it will have to wait until retirement.

Its about time that the MBM cruising club did something a bit more exciting with the more experienced boaters out there.

Several years ago Tom was looking at doing a 3/4 week trip
(Morbihan I think) but it came to nothing.

You seem to be overlooking the original, and I assume still current, aim of the MBM cruises.
To encourage those who have not ventured far to do so, for the first time, in the knowledge that with MBM they had the comfort of experience to hand. I think Morbihan might be deemed further than really necessary.
As far as I am aware it was not (primarily) intended as a piss up for a bunch of regulars.
I don't mean to be rude but in the early days, these cruises tended towards the same bunch of friends from year to year which may have been great fun, but not the original intention.

Agree with that. We stopped doing MBM cruises after a few years because they became the same old same old. How many times can you visit Cherbourg? Whilst I understand they were largely aimed at less experienced boaters, I don't see why there couldn't have been 1 or 2 cruises a year for the more adventurous
Btw the Morbihan and the surrounding area is well worth a visit
 
You're right, securing a warm winter spot will be important if the boat is to be left. I saw the winter sheds at Nord West.

Maybe Nimbus have facilities ?

Anyway we'll have to see.

Posting the post cruise post will probably take as long as the cruise itself.
