Sold my sealine 290 with private advert on boatshop24, had her for 8 years, brilliant boat would definitely recommend one, lots of boat for the money. Switching to sail after enjoying flotilla holidays in Greece and to be truthful, the ever increasing coast of diesel and maintaining two large engines and legs, thought about getting a S28 Sealine with single diesel, but must get the sailing bug out of my system. Put a deposit on a Jeaneau Sun Odyssey 32.2 which I saw on boatshop24, lying in Dartmouth with lifting keel which will be handy for the harbour, so looking forward to the coming season. Don’t know how my retriever Lucy is going to get on though, sailing around at 45 degrees.

Sold our Targa last year for similar reasons and intended to buy a yacht. Over time we have come to the conclusion that sailing in Greece is an entirely diferent proposition than sailing in the UK so we are looking for another mobo and didn't actually buy a yacht. Plan is to charter abroad for the sailing and use the mobo here.

Good luck with the sailing - I am still thinking we might get a day sailer here so we can do a bit of both.

If you are sailing at 45deg, you are doing it wrong, but I suspect you knew that. Most sailboat hull designs become much less efficient once over 20deg off vertical. You need that rig to be as near vertical as possible to obtain max drive too, that's why reefing can be so beneficial.

Dog's paws & claws don't always grip well on GRP or smooth wood, see if you can organise a bit of carpet for him to stand/ sit on.

Thanks for the comments, Greg 2 I take your point, sailing in the Ionian is just so fantastic we went last September the weather was wall to wall sunshine and sea warm as bathwater, coincidental though we where anchored in the same spot as that cat was flipped over just a week later in Vlikho. Job to believe things can deteriorate that suddenly. Yes lot to learn about sailing searush thanks for the tip
