Hi folks,

My Northney 34 has a 20 way switch and indicator lamp panel mounted in a neat mahogany box. Outwardly it's OK, but internally it's a mess of car type fuse holders and terminals, dry joints, cheap crimps, unused circuits and so on.

I'd like to get back to a more robust construction. I reckon the chandler's switch and distro products look great on a new build, but I want to reuse as much as possible and keep the look.

I'm used to using DIN rail terminals on shore - easy to incorporate fuses into each circuit. I think I have enough room to install the miniature versions of these things. Will these stand up to marine use?

Is there an alternative to chocolate block terminals on the market?

Thanks

Plastic terminal block systems on DIN rails work perfectly.

Single level screw clamp ones were used in our own boat, which was a custom build for us, for DC (with high current blocks where appropriate for DC), AC and instrumentation. We specified breakers instead of fuses, but maybe breakers would not have the looks if after a more classic panel.

Just need, of course, to be sure that non ferrous metals are used for the metal parts and the rail (although I suspect all quality systems are fine for that)
