Having had my swinging mooring renewal at about 1800 quid inc lift in/out I thought that I might look into the marina charges instead. I usually moor at Mylor.

Falmouth marina at nearly three grand and Mylor Marina a little more were out of the question.

Sutton Harbour in plymouth is £2210 which is OK pricewise.

Am I going to use a marina berthed boat more or am I wasting my money and should I stay where I am. I do live fifty miles fro the marina and ten from Mylor?

Any advice welcome

Funny just clearing out old paperworkand found our 1996 pontoon / storage for a 27 footer at Mylor, £521.08.

You could stay swinging, get your name down with TBOA, I pay £150, or try the Mylor yacht club, we used to have resonable rates.

Hope boats going fine, new last two owner's well.

Strange. It's usually us here in the Solent who moan about charges. I pay £380/year for a half tide swinging in Chichester.

I used to be in a Marina which was great in that you could visit the boat whenever you wanted, and for day sails. However if you tend to go out for several days or longer at a time a swinging is fine, and much nicer to spend a night on. The biggest problem we have here is where to leave your car!

1800 for a swinging mooring is absolutely outrageous IMHO. there has to be somewhere acceptable to you at a sensible cost.

They have to pay for the new office block and wine bar, and then the new marina has to be paid for. Changed hands a few years back used to be very resonable, 1996 my pontoon cost £521 for the year, then we went up-market, not working class anymore.
Funny thing, we are now on a club swinging mooring (not MYC) for £108, 50 yards away are Mylor moorings in the £1800 bracket. Only difference is we do our own lay-up and mooring service. Also save on Mylor haulout, last launch we had in 1996 cost £127 to put a 27 ft Hurley in the water.

I almost went for a deal in Portsmouth, can't remember the name but they ran an included launch service from the Sultan Pier, however I was warned about vandalism if leaving the car there and it put me off.
