swinging mooring - chichester

If it's a Conservancy mooring then contact them directly here. Otherwise it's the same trudge around the boatyards as anywhere else.
(I'm at HYC, tel. 02392 463592, he should know if there are any spare moorings within a couple of weeks, but not many full tidal and none access at all states of tide unless you float on wet grass.)

Join the queue at the Harbour office waiitng list, or go round the yards with moorings. AFAIK even half tide moorings are pretty scarce at the moment because a lot of people are getting fed up with high priced marinas, particularly those with smaller boats who find they have to pay a minimum charge based on a much longer boat.

Conservancy website has a list of companies within the harbour - as does www.chifed.org ...

From memory - the trots in itchenor reach carry a premium and for a 30' were about £1k pa ... move away from the popular, easy access areas to somewhere like nutbourne and you can knock 25% off that figure!!

Mind you - the nutbourne channel is quite exposed to the SW'erlies - more so than Itchenor and is definitely a tender with outboard job ...

Not very exposed really compared to other parts of the harbour. Upper Itchenor isnt exposed to anything except wash from Mobos who cant read their speedos. Compare Nutobourne with the way boats bounce around in Emsworth for example.

The big prob with Nutbourne is the distance from the nearest landing - definitely an outboard job and then maybe 15 minutes! And almost completely inaccessible from around 3 hrs after HW as there is no safe way ashore through deep mud that has claimed life in recent years.

Yup - unless you can head south for a landing ... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

It is true to say that access to Nutbourne is restricted to 3hrs each side of high water, but only on springs. On neaps you can launch your dinghy from the chains at any time, and yes it is mud and shingle. You may need wellies!
Both Nutbourne and Emsworth channels can get very nasty in a s/s.w. Spend a night on board when its rough and you will look at your sampson post/bollards with renewed respect. An 8/9 ft stem dinghy is a must. Some even use a 9 to 10' dingh with a permenant cuddy........

Re: swinging mooring - Chichester

Umm, 38ft LOA ain't tiny! You won't be very welcome and could find yourself waiting for dead men's shoes (present company excepted of course . . .)

I have some ideas - PM me.
