I was given a gift voucher at Christmas for a local Chandlers so as it was teaming down yesterday and I didn't have much else to do I thought I'll drive up the coast pop in and get some antifouling. Past years I have bought Cruiser Uno and usually paid no more than £60. went into the shop and saw the price on the tin £79.99! Chap asked if he could help. I said I was looking to buy said tin but not at that price, I'm afraid thats the R.R.P, ah but it comes with a free anti-fouling Kit. (paper coveralls, roller and tray) I decided to keep my voucher.
I called another chandlers today and asked about price. £60 for the same tin and the same "free kit", needless to say they will be getting my business next time I'm passing.
Why do some chandlers seem to think they have a captive market and can charge what they like?
