Sweepstake - What\'s round me prop?

On Sunday afternoon returning into Pwllheli just inside the entrance the port engine bounced and the revs fell off, I quickly dropped it into neutral.

Odd, a quick scan in the engine room and everything looked ok, so put it back into gear just to see, would not rev over 1300rpm. Back to neutral.

Stopped engine. Put boat on mooring and restarted, thought I would try running in reverse to shift whatever I had picked up, engine stalled. Opened shaft inspection hole to find prop shaft now locked solid.

Water was filthy so could not see prop on Monday and it was far too cold to start messing about.

So what have I caught? Answers on a postcard. Springs next weekend so boat will dry and I should be able to cut off offending article from dinghy.

Having spotted you trawling the shallows on more than one occassion, it could be one of the mooring lines from the trots. Or more realistically a stray bag of Plaid Cymru postal ballots /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A soddin great big hessian sack!

Tightly wrapped around prop and shaft. Could not move it all from dinghy with boat hooks and prodding things. Neaps so nowhere to dry out easily.

Far to cold to take a plunge so missed some lovely sailing weather.

Next weekend will hopefully allow me to dry her out and give a scrub to her bottoms.
