Our gas bottle locker is accessed via a door in the transom. It contains the active R907 Camping Gaz bottle plus a spare. At the end of the copper pipe is a solenoid valve operated from near the galley. From this is normal standard rubber hose to the regulator.

With the difficult access to the locker, changing over the gas bottle is hard enough in harbour. It’s almost impossible at sea. Does anyone know of a system that would allow the bottle in use to be swapped from safety of cabin?

An auto changeover valve....... You need to keep an eye on it though to see when it's changed over and you're using the second bottle because then you can find a convenient time to change the empty one out.

As both bottles are in the same locker why not just install an auto changeover regulator, then the full bottle will automatically kick in when the other is empty. Any decent Caravan place should be able to advise.

Just a quick by the way if you are changing at sea. If you are reaching over the stern (or from a bathing platform / sugar scoop, make sure that the harness tether is shortened up to be tight at the maximum you have to reach into the locker. No point in slithering into the ogin due to a long tether!

Careful! I believe the link is to propane regulators, they have POL ends and are set to 37mbar. It seems to be hard to find ones for butane now.
