Swan 48 abandoned and drifting off the coast of Bermuda

I don't understand why they would abandon a boat that can sail even after two knockdowns. I'd jut keep sailing and anchor for Bermuda for a tow in, but then we always carried a sextant and 24 spare AA batteries for two handheld GPS's.

The boat may be capable of handling two knockdowns, but that doesn't mean the crew are. They am have been hurt, or sick, or scared, or tired, or all of the above.

Severe motion sickness....!?

Anyone else on here been so bad they seriously just wanted to die? I know that once, in the back of a Canberra twinjet after an hour of 'recovery from unusual positions', I was taking up the First Pressure on the ejector seat-pan firing handle..... :(

remember the old adage about sea sickness....you spend the first 5 hours worrying that you will die, then spend the next 5 worrying that you wont
