Hi,
I need some info re swageless fittings. Sta Lok etc. Never used them before so clueless. I notice Sta Lok fittings are specific to each wire rope type but what about the others?
The wire I am using is 6mm 18 x 7 stainless steel non rotational/rotation resistant. (WR 6mm 18 x 7 WSC RHOL SS 1570n/mm2)
I need a couple of eye fittings to suit this rope.
Look forward to replies
Many thanks
Mike

Yes, the cone needs to match the wire. Sta-lok are excellent in service, as are Norseman, although I believe these are no longer made. It is worth including a blob of sealant, e.g. Sikaflex, when making up to exclude water.

Many long-term cruisers use them at the lower end of shrouds. When the shroud needs to be replaced have the top end made up with a swaged fitting, wire slightly over length and cut in situ to fit.

Most forestays have a compression fitting at the lower end to allow installation of the foil.

Thanks, I guess I am out of luck with my 18 x 7 rope. Just had a look on the Sta Lok web site and they only do cones for the popular wire types. Will have to come up with another solution. Mike
