Does anyone have any experience of this engine? Trying to find some rough fuel consumption figures for river use before making the decision to stick with it or downsize.

I know it's total overkill for the Thames but need some ideas what to expect, have tried google but no joy and it's a little too old for Suzuki to have any tech spec.

Well that's blown that!

They did a two cylinder and a three cylinder DT65. Both OK at reasonably low revs and fuel consumption on a par with any other two stroke. I had a detuned DT55 which seemed pretty good on fuel on a Zodiac. If you're bothered about performance etc, suggest a change of prop for river use. Very easy engine to work on.

Thanks for that, the thing is barely going above tickover on the Thames, crazy that I can rebuild a car engine but a outboard terrifies me.

Quite correct, wait until you have to deal with 1990s Suzuki aluminium with stainless steel bolts seized in. Some bright spark named them Alka seltzer because they fizzed so much in salt water.
