Took outboard out of boot last night where it has laid on the handle as per manual. When we lifted it from horizontal to vertical oil started to seep out of a hole just above the cavitation plate (such as it is on such a small engine).
Looked more like gearbox oil than engine oil, so checked both and gearbox oil took maybe a couple of thimble fulls but a lot less than came out. Engine oil OK.
Fired it up and no problem, put in gear and no problem.
Question is whether there is an overflow / self protection system that would have caused initial loss of oil ?
We serviced it in March / April and this is the first time we have used it since.
Any ideas ?
