Having no boating qualifications and always sailed just for fun, decided to do Powerboat Level 2 (might also come in handy for a bit of casual work when I retire) so SWMBO bought it for me for Christmas.

Done a bit in RIBs in the past, so thoroughly enjoyed playing around in Osborne Bay yesterday in a bit of a blow. I think I will be doing some more.

Already looking around for a bigger saily boat, now how do I justify buying a RIB as well.....

(If anyone wants a recommendation for a good instructor IW/Solent, PM me)

After all the Global Warming threads and posts and rants, are you sure about buying a RIB and being able to retain, even if it is ever such a small one, a degree of credibility?

Surely, after a few high speed blasts in a RIB your appetites for speed are satisfied. I know mine are. But, occasionally I'm let out on a 6 metre RIB thatv will do over 30 knots /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Fun, isn't it?

PB2 - me too, recently.
5.5m RIB + 75 hp.
Mostly low speed of course, but we did get to open it up a few times and ...

Easy, buy a reall huge raggy and then you can argue for a RIB and oversized O/B hanging on the davits. I believe Mirabella IV has a 30ft RIB as "tender" with, presumably, a commensurately sized pair of O/Bs.

certainly doesn't hang about and good fun working it in some biggish seas, wasn't just a case of steering it whilst it took me for a ride.
