Thinking about buying a second hand survival suit. Never used but 10 years old. Surprised to find out its needs annual servicing. For what? This would make it nonviable to buy. I assume buoyancy is built in rather than from Co2 cartridge. Just want to put it on the boat and forget about it

The few helicopter survival suits I used, and the ones we had at the College for sea survival courses, did not have any built in buoyancy. Servicing is probably a case of checking the zip works, neck/face and cuff seals have not perished, and that they do not leak.
