Surveyor suggestion for Insurance Survey Gosport

I have Just used Sollars Marine Surveys. Barney was very good and the report is nicely put together and fair.

No connection other than happy custome.

I had my boat surveyed by a man called Sutton whose details were listed in the RNSA Journal.

I seem to remember he offered a discount to RNSA members.

That was in 1997 and he may of course be retired now.

A call to the RNSA office might elicit a few names.

Eh? I think we’re going to need a few more details!
Least said i am afraid, beyond another surveyor banned from any boat I own. If a would be buyer doesn't like it he has the option not to buy a boat I might be selling, besides after misleading reports from mis edited prior reports it would likely be such a survey would not achieve a sale anyway.

+2 for Nick Vass.
He spotted an issue with a boat I was selling. It cost me a few £k to sort it, but at least the new owners don't need to worry about a weak spot aft of the keel now.
Although, if you're looking for a surveyor for insurance purposes, maybe you want the laziest and least thorough surveyor you can find?

Quick and easy question. Can anyone recommend a surveyor for insurance purposes for a boat in the Gosport area?

After fifteen years, our insurers have finally suggested they would like an up to date survey please...

Many thanks

John
Hi try the www.iims.org.uk website, they are based in Portchester so not far away and in the 17 years I have been a member of the IIMS I have met some very capable surveyors in your area

John

Did you get an out of water survey [for insurance] in the end, how did it go and was it one of the recommendations here?

Thanks in advance.

The key problem with some surveyors is the report they provide does not necessarilly refer to the boat you paid them to inspect !

I have seen that on an old previous owner survey in the paperwork that came with my current yacht. I notice the engine appeared to have an extra cylinder on the day of the survey. That was not the only error.
