Surveyor, South Coast.

Can anyone give me a recommendation for a marine surveyor to check a 12 year old(ish) 34/36' Ben/Jen/Bav type of sailing boat in the Southampton/Portsmouth area? Competent and relatively inexpensive would be helpful, budget is very tight! There are a number listed, but suggestions would be welcome.

Jim is a great chap but I doubt he is in the inexpensive bracket. Having said that, spending a load of dosh on a boat, I wouldnt scrimp and save on the survey Nicho. (tight budget, my arse!)

Simon May did the survey on our boat bought at Hamble Point last August.

He was straightforward, good, realistic and helpful in discussions and I haven't found a single thing that he missed.

He may have saved the entire rig since he was prevented by the marina rules from going up the mast and he insisted (rather than a gentle recommendation) that we have the rig checked. We did have it checked as soon as we were dropped in (Performance Rigging - again excellent) and they found that the forestay/mast connecting pin (not sure its precise description) was the wrong size and could have gone awol with the rig following seconds after.

I can only recommend as a happy customer
