I'm near to making an offer (privately) for a boat in Brighton and wondered if anyone could recommend a good surveyor that I can talk to for a quote. The boat was built in 1992 and seems to be in excellent condition, what sort of survey should I ask for - and should I commission an engine survey at the same time?

can't recommend a surveyor, but I would ask him to arrange an oil analysis. It cost us £60 per engine, and as has been discussed here, a 'perfectly normal' result gives a great deal of peace of mind.

Just received a fantastic survey on a Fairline Corniche from Stuart Roy - http://www.yacht-designer.co.uk.

Quite inexpensive compared to others as a bonus.
