It is a long time since I used his services but I was very satisfied with Tony Staton-Bevan. I have since recommended him to two friends who were also very pleased. I don't have a magazine to hand but I know he used to advertise in the classifieds in PBO.....

We had Tony Staton-Bevan in September last year and were very pleased with his service and his report. He is very thorough and puts photos of what he finds in the report. He came highly recommended through the trade. Specialises in Bowman Starlight. His company is called Abbey Yachts, 01590 645755. It cost us £587 for a condition report on our 36 Bowman Starlight.

I would recommend David Hopkins. V. Thorough and reasonably priced. Based somewhere near Shamrock Quay

For the record, David Hopkins is at Port Hamble.

If this is the first time you've had a survey done, I strongly suggest that you ask yourself exactly what you are hoping to get out of it and discuss that with the surveyor before he starts. Surveys can disappoint simply because the customer did not get what he thought he was going to get. I had two surveys carried out last year on a 40' and a 42'. the first surveyor spent about 8 hours on the job (i.e on the boat), the second spent about 4 or 5.
