From an earlier posting I followed the below link to see the new slipway on the Thames, it seems to have had very few supporters from the boating fraternity, I think we should all get behind this and register our support of the planning application. It is about time a developer built more than just flats on the waterfront.

I have copied the link

http://publicaccess.dartford.gov.uk/Publ...o=K9UYLJBQ00L00

There is a submit comments button on the website so it is very easy to register support.

It would be interesting to hear from other forumites what they think of this.

Where is it? I shall save my other comments once I know the full story behind this wonderful new launching area..

Agreed, I had a look a little while ago and the facility seemed more like a sweetner for developing a thousand homes and few acres of shops and businesses

{edit} - and it also looks to me as if certain new posters may have an interest in this project that goes beyond the provision of boating facilities... {/edit}

Shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth though i guess!

My brother in law lives in a nice riverside flat in Grays, great views over the water. Right next to him is the old wateryy bit of the ex wharf on which the flats were built. Would make great private moorings with a wave screen (Cobelfret, nuff said!) but just smelly mud and almost inaccessible. A wasted resource.

Don't let the houses put you off these were all approved in 1999 and have been on the plans for a long time, the slipway is a totally new addition which makes a nice change and certainly should be encouraged.

I also like the pub, perfect for a pint and the the watching of all manner of launches.

Very interested in the wave screen do you know of any examples or is it just a huge wall? Where my boat is moored off Gravesend it gets thrown about by the wash of all the passing ships, has broke its moorings a couple of times and is constantly rubbing up against the buoy wearing down the paint.
