I blew a fuse on my switchboard, and broke the red plastic "cover" that holds the fuse in place. The board is very similar to this:

and if needs be I'll buy a complete replacement to get one new red "fuse retainer" - plus some spares...
Anybody know if it is possible to get just the red plastic retaining bit anywhere? The bit that says FUSE on it.
I've been googling without much success as yet.

Thanks,

Douglas

Thanks. The Maplin one might do the trick. You stick a small screwdriver, or similar, in the small hole to depress a retaining lug; which is easily broken...:(

If it's that easy to break, I can't help wondering if you wouldn't do better to look for something a bit more robust.

Redoing Jissel's switch panel is lurking down near the bottom of my to do list and I'm undecided whether to bite the bullet and get mini circuitbreakers or carry on being a cheapskate and get a couple of blade fuse boxes, something like this. The fuse boxes would have the advantage that I could have more individual circuits and still spend a lot less, but the disadvantage that I'd have to carry spare fuses and it's more of a faff if I do blow one.

Considering that the only time a fuse has ever blown on Jissel was as a result of my own carelessness when doing some wiring, I'm tending towards the fuses.

To be fair, I didn't know how to prize off the cap which retains the fuse - so used brute force and ignorance. A few minutes older and wiser, it was obvious that leverage with a screwdriver wasn't required!
I'm off to Maplins this afternoon.

I'm so glad it's not only me that finds out how to disassemble things by breaking them. That's the great advantage of posing questions here on the forum - learning by others' mistakes, just a pity the manufacturers don't tell you how the things work!
