Extract from the latest Metcheck.com forecast

Added [Monday July 28 2003 : 4:53:00 PM]

The latest forecasts are out and the NOGAPS (the GFS's sister model) is showing an even better picture of next weeks expected heatwave across the UK.

High pressure is now expected to break off from the Azores and bring cloudless weather to much of the country from Sunday.

Next week is looking awesome, wall-to-wall sunshine with temperatures up to the low 80's, so not getting too hot.

So, fire up the BBQ, get those shorts out again and prepare for what should be the best heatwave of the Summer so far.

- Better happen - I'm on hols then for 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edited by Chris_Robb on 28/07/2003 18:05 (server time).

"have never yet had a really good weeks weather sailing in the channel"

Could you confirm your holiday dates Chris? Then I'll know when not to bother /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

so finally you found one you like the look of!

We're on hols too Chris, so I hope it's true. But there's a touch of 'live in hopes, die of despair' about your positive weather forecast. Let's hope it blows three and fours and stays sunny all week (and the next). Have a nice trip.

I can believe it.

For the first time in years I have managed to get an almost solid two weeks away from the desk on a purely recreational sailing holiday.

Started last weekend as the last heat-wave broke; we have just abandoned the boat and taken to the cottage near Plymouth in the face of continuous rain and strong winds, and return to the desk next weekend when the new heatwave starts - typical!

Re: I can believe it.

Sorry to hear that James - thats is usually reserved for me! - these forecasters however are inclined to tell us what we want to hear though - so perhaps we will be doing the same as you - though we don't have a cottage there (yet)

We sailed up river (Tamar) and saw Sweet Lucy on her mooring - looking very nice. Didn't realise the river was so shallow there at low springs - cleaned the barnacles off the keel.

Re: so finally you found one you like the look of!

Same to you John - are you Ditch crawling on the east coast - or further afield? Mr Cox has certainly done a good turn to keep aspiring east coasters away!! Mind you I do understand what he means - I don't like flat coastlines - give me Cliffs - deep rocky inlets etc. (and hard bits to hit!) anyday.

Keep praying

Chris

Essex and Suffolk rivers this year. Though I wouldn't call the Deben a ditch, if I were you, for fear of a diplomatic incident with Mirelle and one or two others. We will probably sally forth to Ramsgate and Calais if the wind blows that way too. It will be a relaxed trip with no beating except of eggs (some hopes). Dunno what you mean about cliffs. There's a cliff at Walton and one at Ramsholt. Any more would spoil it.
