I'm in the process of looking to get a bigger boat, I'd always liked the Superhawk 40 but thought a reasonable recent example would be beyond my means. When I sa the link/ advert I was very tempted myself, I'm not surprised it sold at that price.
There's now me, my wife and the dog. Our 22 year old daughter comes out on our boat now and again.
We have a second house in Anglesey; I'm loathe to call it a holiday home, as we bought it planning to move there. However, due to circumstances that have changed (not financial) , we will probably sell it in the next 12 months. We have only ever once slept on our current cuddy boat ( lovely calm evening in the marina, but aborted at 04:30 when the gale force winds/ horizontal rain/ slapping halyards/ dog that decided it was time to get up put paid to that). You probably know what I mean about the weather!!!
Now, on selling the house we could get a cruiser with a similar LOA to our cuddy that we could stay on sometimes, with a static caravan nearby. However, we could get a much bigger boat, no caravan. Our mooring fees for the bigger boat, with only one insurance premium would be less than the caravan site fees + insurance+ mooring fees for a smalller boat or the current house council tax fees + insurance+ mooring fees for the smaller boat.! Hell of a thing, buy a bigger boat and save money !
The Superhawk 40 would be big enough for us to stay on and plenty fast enough for us on the odd occasions we would think it nice to go fast. I rarely drive our current boat at maximum speed. My car can do 150 mph, only once ( in Germany) have I driven it at that speed, .
