I would like to know more about this boat, concerning general structure, pros and cons and ability to handle choppy seas as well.

I am talking about the twin KAD300 volvo Option, around 2003.

Thank you in advance,

Nick

2003 VP 300 would be Kad 300 an excellent engine if serviced thoroughly.

Super hawk 34 more of a day boat than a family cruiser long and thin better accommodation in other boats.

Apart from that I know of no vices of the design.

Outstanding ! But limited internal accommodation. But you will get pretty much anywhere in most seas and back! I love em!

I have 2003 KAD 300's in the Windy, i've had no problems at all with them, and they always run sweetly. They are a bit smokey on start up when cold, but fine once warm.

We also looked at Superhawk 34's when we bought the Windy. They're more limited on space in the cabin and cockpit, but have the advantage of a radar arch and side decks, and are generally a bit cheaper. I didn't test drive one, so can't comment on the ride from personal experience, but i've only ever heard good things about them.

I have KAD 300's with tha all important - DPG drives ( steering ram is inside the boat) in my Portofino 35 circa 2003'
No probs to date , as mentioned - follow service schedule .
" general structure" well they are made / contstucted in the trad way, ie the bulkheads and furnature ,like the seat bases and gally units etc are glassed into the hull. They do not use drop in modules -or liners - so very stiff/ strong no rattles or flexing open of joints , because there arn,t any as such .
Teak is Burmese thick individual sections and fitted properly arround the borders .
Lockers Cedar lined ,
I could go on ,but you will feel/ see when looking at others

I love them, had 3 of them.

Look out for:

Hull Stress cracking (all of mine had it to some extent, had one fully expoxied after 1 year of use, owned from new)
You can put them on their sides during tight turns, great fun but
this does mean water comes in via the side port holes, look for water damage around these areas.
Quite a few have the internal table removed as its easier to access the forward berth, make sure its still with the boat.
Windscreen cracking & rubbers
I used to get through plenty of replays for the up/down drive trims, keep spares and they are easily accessable.
Dashboards are now old and most of the fake walnut ones now need replacing, carbon dash baords look good and easily replaced
I believe early kad300 boats (really late 2001) had the wrong props, these should have been changed to stop over revs

The design is now nearly 15 years old but they still look great. So good I have recently bid my first one back again, dont know why but just have a soft spot for them.

Lovely boats. We looked at one before buying our last boat. More practical than a hunton but not quite as fast. If we were looking again, it would be a more difficult decision this time.
