Sunseeker marketing, nice to see a professional job

Re: Sunseeker marketing, a contrary view

It seems to me you need to look carefully at where you intend to park your new boat (1) on delv and (2) during ownership and assess the custom service reports on the brand in the locations chosen.

On here we have a record of good boats and marketing being overshadowed by poor after sales.

Poor marketing (maybe) coupled with exellent after sales etc etc.

I too have heard of some poor S/S service but likewise heard fab reports in S Spain

Horses for courses - buyer beware and do your research!

And it seems to work. Was not our own Magnum persuaded by S/S's care and attention?

Yes. But I should let magnum speak for himself on the later out turn, [/understatement], and I think he's away travelling at the mo. Anyway, that's my whole point. Hoew impressed are these folks a year or two on? My friend (whom I've known 10 yrs, colleague here in London) who bought hattan70 at same time as magnum was impressed then, not so much now - if he had magic wand he'd switch to Sq70.

I'm just making the warning to those who are being put thru their marketing process, that's all. Talk to folks who went thru it a year or two ago to get the full picture.

Re: Sunseeker marketing, a contrary view

If my boat had MAN800's, I would want to hear them.
In fact, I would record the sound and play it over the entertainment system: set to fade out gradually as I went to sleep.

Re: Sunseeker marketing, a contrary view

There's a difference between hearing an engine mechanically as you can when you rev a Ferrari V12, and hearing the uber low frequency boom of a poorly silenced exhaust from an 1800rpm diesel. But hey, be my guest, get one if you like the noise. Carry plemnty of cotton wool, to soak up the blood that will run down from your ears during the cruise, so as not to stain your collars :-)

Re: Sunseeker marketing, a contrary view

If I understand correctly, sorry to hear that Magnum not altogether pleased. Yup, I remember your post about Man 70 and that does not reflect at all well on S/S. Your point about exhaust noise is also good as I agree that this seems to have been a long term S/S blind spot. Maybe S/S owners like a bit of engine bark

I was referring to
(a) awful flybridge ergonomics - dash loo low, nav screens feel like they're laid out flat on the floor, screen viewing angles bad, you can't reach the buttons without leaning forward and down from your seat
(b) VERY noisy exhausts on hattans and yots. On several models they have fixed this in the last 1-2 years. The hattan 70 is fine. But the hattan 50 and the yot 75/82/94 from a year ago and longer have unquestionably VERY noisy exhausts. Much noisier for the passengers in a cruise than mainstream FL and Prin. The hattan 56 (old model) with MAN800s was always very noisy on the flybr

ok you can asses all this in a seatrial, which many peers do before buying
if you dont like the ergonics so thats not really after sales service
some people like you JFM buy a boat for the helm ergonomics, other purchase a boat for a shower size, and other for a silent midship cabin, to each his own
everyone has his tastes and different views what to buy a boat for, and I would say thank god for that
variety is the spice of life...

Re: Sunseeker marketing, a contrary view

WOW!!

i am a strong believer in the personal touch and if i ever had the money to buy a SS i would expect and be pleased to receive that kind of service!

i remember when we bought our sealine (Different league i know) we were treated far from pleasantly until they realised we were serious! something to do with out age and being dressed in flip flops and shorts!!

Good on you SS. in this time of doom and gloom, quality and pro active customer services should be praised!!

Re: Sunseeker marketing, a contrary view

Not waving a flag for any manufacturer but I do know one med based sunseeker owner, currently with 'hattan 60 who has had any number of sunseekers and for whom sunseeker will defo be the first port of call on the next change.

Personal experience from way back, Sunseeker have always been very good at making you feel you are very important to them, and I always said to 'er indoors, one day I'll have one,

She's now getting on in years, but the build quality still shows through, and the boat's not bad either /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Sunseeker marketing, a contrary view

Yup the general view in SofF is that the after sales support from the French dealer is top rate
