Just back from a week at this place. Absoultely brilliant. Sun, sea, sand, sailing and what you do in the evening is up to you.
Brilliant sailing in a whole range of boats in focer 3 - 5 winds with warm wind and water. an absolute recipy for a brilliant week away in mid winter.
Recomemnede - oh and the food is not bad either and washed down with copius amounts of Antiguam Cavalier Rum with coke and plenty of ice makes this a memorable holliday.

Re: disagree, a bit

if you are just back, you went in the cheapest weeks. They charge almost double those rates over christmas which ain't worth it, the service is slow, and the buffet menu has significantly deteriorated. Usual so-so service means the floors aren';t cleaned much so there are plenty of flies. The Gazzette (travel agents bible) said the public areas are "tired". I went twice up until two years ago and i have not heard that they changed much, and won't until it gets fixed up.

Certainly good for kids, and free watersports in safe seas is excellent.

But foodwise, as per this forum, The Bistro up the road in Antigua is far far better.

Also, rum and coke "with plenty of ice" means short measures. They actually charge more for sunsail drinks than they charge at the airport: ask for a rum annd coke with no ice and you get a proper measure. Separately, get some ice.

Pleased you had a good time though.

Re: disagree, a bit

No what you mean about some aperts of it but I have to say my focus was on the water side of it. In my experience any sort of package holiday leaves a lot to be desired food wise. However during the week we were there it was quiet and for my part it was it was action packed with all the sailing one could wish for in warm conditions at this time of year. Offer me a better alterntive.

Re: wrong forum?

ah, i agree regarding the package as a whole and at that time of year within that range there ar few alternatives. hence praps your positive rave shd be on s'butt?

Instead of going there, which we did twice as the back half of a two-centre holiday with first week in BVI, we went to the BVI for the whole 2 weeks.

If you want to be shorebased, then if you like the colona recipe or relaxed bar, carib sun, bit of sand, and yacht/hobie use, you will love the Bitter End Yacht Club (beyc.com). Fantastic views, bay open to the wind but flat sea - protected by a reef . Furthe west and more swanky is The Peter Island Resort, not quite as saily but they do have lots of boats - a bit more accent and excellence on the bar and food, tho again I think a lot more £££. But if you have a rental boat in BVI then you can hang off a buoy and visit both these places for a day or more. Not as cheaply as Colonna i think, but definitely worth looking at (on the web anyway) and muist-go options iif you happen to be in the BVI.

My moan was exclusively about the food/bar which could be lots better for the money (or simply, cheaper I suppose) . When we went, didcusing the crappy food was quite a good converstaion opener, with numerous people escaping to eat elsewhere etc.

Re: wrong forum?

Thanks for the tips.
Yes I know it might have been more appropriate on Scuttlebut but you do get a awful lot of drivvel there at times.
Good sailing
